Chapter 2 : National Anthem and National Flag
- National Anthem :
- It was first sang on 27 December, 1911 in Calcutta
- National Anthem was written by Rabindranath Tagore in Bengali language.
- Our National Anthem is also known as " Bharat Bhagyo Vidhata"
- The National Anthem was officially adopted on 24 January 1950 in the Special Session of the Constituent Assembly. On the same day, with the National Anthem our National Song - Vande Mataram was adopted.
- The National Anthem was first published in - Tattvabodhini Patrika in 1912
- It was translated into English in 1919 and known as Morning Song of India.
- National Flag :
- The design of the National Flag was adopted on 22 July 1947
- It was designed by - Bengali Venfayya
- Our National Flag is Tricolor - Saffron, White with Ashok Chakra and Green.
- Saffron represents Strength and Courage of the country
- White - peace and truth . It has Ashok Chakra in the middle of the white band. Ashok chakra is wheel with 24 spokes in it, Ashok Chakra is also known as Samay or Dharma Chakra. 24 Spokes in the chakra represent the 24 hours of a day
- Green - fertility, growth and the auspiciousness of the land. It is mostly related to the agricultural background of the country.
- The width to length ratio of the flag is 2:3
