- Structure of the Constituent Assembly :
- In the Constituent Assembly, initially there were 389 members but later due to the partition of India and Pakistan the number was reduced to 296 members.

- Elections of the Constituent Assembly :
- Took place in July-August 1946
- For 296 members of the Constituent Assembly.
- Election results party wise were
- Congress = 208
- Muslim League = 73
- Opposition = 8
- Parties which could win only 1 seat = 7
- Parties winning only one seat were :
- Unionist Party
- Unionist Muslim
- Unionist Scheduled Caste
- Schedule Caste Federation
- Krushak Praja |Party
- Sikh (Non-Congress)
- Communist
- In the first election, 15 female members were elected :
- Sucheta Kriplani --- 1st Woman CM in India ------State = UP(Uttar Pradesh)
- Sarojini Naidu ---- 1st Woman Governor
- Begum Rasool --- Only Muslim woman as a member
- Dakshayani Velaydoon ----Dalit member ----Madras
- Malati Chaudhary --- Odisha
- Kamala Chaudhary --- UP
- Renuka Roy --- Bengal
- Leela Roy --- Bengal
- Vijayalaxmi Pandit --- UP --- 1st Woman to be elected President of United Nations General Assembly.
